The Art & Cultural Collective of Battle Creek is a group of artists, musicians, photographers, designers, activists, and advocates that are working to re-shape how their local community interprets and accesses with public art.
“The ACCBC is a organization established for the creation and preservation of art and culture in Battle Creek; we do this by supporting arts programming and event planning for the community, and by serving as the infrastructure for connecting creative professionals with the resources and opportunities that have historically evaded them.”
I feel extremely grateful for the opportunity to have been asked to help with the identity and event campaign “Que Calor” to help launch the Collective. The primary wordmark roots itself in the traditions of Bauhaus design, but is a collaborative and flexible mark meant to “break the rules” whenever necessary.

The primary wordmark roots itself in the traditions of Bauhaus design, but is a collaborative and flexible mark meant to “break the rules” whenever necessary.
Dovetailing the diverse umbrella of artists under the ACCBC, we created a wordmark that was born out of strict, grid-based fundamentals, but was made to be altered and manipulated by other artists and designers.
“What we need to do now is ensure that creatives and artists are seen as change makers & leaders, and give them the opportunity to create opportunities unabashedly.”
- Vania Word, ACCBC Director
